Stylish Winter Accessories You Need This Season

We feel the bite of winter rolling in, so it’s time to start moving on from the summer wardrobe and layering up in preparation for the cold season!

Winter Accessories

Accessorising can sometimes be an afterthought, and we're left outside, unprepared and exposed to the elements, or worse we end up with the first scarf or beanie on hand, finding our outfit now has a unique addition that just doesn't fit!

We love a little accessory but love it more when our outfits love our accessories too!

Let us take you through the ins and outs of winter accessories, their practicality and how to effectively style them to accentuate you, and your fashion flair.

The Role Of The Winter Accessory

Accessories are an essential part of any outfit and can be styled for an event, season or even to suit how you feel on the day. There is a practicality to winter wardrobe accessories so finding the right ones that also fit in with our personal style can at times be tricky.

We want to start from the top and work our way down covering beanies, scarves, gloves, stockings, socks and footwear, so you’re not only prepared from head to toe with all the tips and tricks to winter style, but you’re kept cosy and warm too!

Beanies

Beanies are essential for winter and can help your whole body stay cosy by preventing warmth from leaving through your head. It can also help to top off any outfit with that final touch.

We’ve all seen how many types of beanies there are and sometimes you can get lost trying to find the right one for your outfit. Natural fibers such as wool are premium when it comes to warmth. Neutral tones and simplistic shapes like a traditional roll-back cut are part of our essential winter warmer survival kit!

Beanie

When making an outfit and adding a beanie to the mix, it’s always a good idea to keep a flow of textures. When styling we make sure to mix pieces with like textures and a similar composition to keep the contrast to a minimal. That is unless we want to make your beanie the statement of your outfit, which takes some more careful consideration but can be made easier by colour coordinating.

A popular choice for those who love a little extra flair with their outfit is a beanie with a pom pom. Iconic and playful, we like to think a pom pom brings out the child in us, carefree and keen for adventure!

Scarves

We all know the feeling when you step outside and instantly get a chill running down your spine from your exposed neck. It might have a high collar and a hood, but sometimes your jacket just doesn’t cut it! Thankfully our range of scarves offer variety in style, texture and colourways so you can always find the one to keep you warm, and match your fit. We’ve heard from our mumma birds that scarves can even double as a lightweight privacy shield when breastfeeding on the go!

Gloves

Often the last to be attended to, our hands need warming up too! We have an array of options, whether you want mitts, fingerless mitts, or a classic glove, all adding that protective layer against those low-lying temps.

When you’re trying to decide what type of glove to wear it comes down to the day at hand. Gloves provide dexterity for when you find yourself doing activities that require that extra finesse, but if your focus is on warmth mitts are the go. With your whole hand in one compartment, your fingers share heat keeping you and your digits warmer for longer.

Socks And Stockings

Layering is key when dressing for winter, with socks and leggings saving our skirts and dresses from relegation, and keeping our tooties cosy in our big winter boots.

From skin tone to patterned stockings, sometimes it's simply a question; do I want functionality or fashion first? Our top tip for picking your pair is the higher the denier rating, the thicker - and warmer - the tights!

Textured Knit Tights

Socks all too often go underrated, but are one of the quickest and easiest winter accessories on hand. Being the furthest away from our vital organs our feet work overtime to get a little heat so a little extra attention here can go a long way!

Wool socks are a standout when it comes to bringing the heat, and like other natural fibres such as cotton or bamboo can help in the odour department through their antimicrobial and moisture-wicking ability. Put let's not forget to have fun! Even if they are hidden under our laces or hems, a printed party sock can be just the secret we need to brighten up our Monday mood.

Winter Footwear

For most of us, leaving the house in winter requires at least one essential layer of outerwear… and, of course, the right shoes. When the temperature drops, having a warm and comfortable pair ready to go can make all the difference — sometimes it’s the only thing that convinces us to leave the cosy comfort of bed in the first place. Ugg Boots are an Australian winter staple and can be heavenly on those cold winter nights, the soft shearling lining cushioning our first morning steps.

Ugg boots

In the cooler months, insulated and shearling-lined styles become everyday heroes, offering softness underfoot and much-needed warmth on frosty mornings and chilly nights. Whether you prefer fully lined boots or simply add a plush insole to your favourite pair, a little extra cushioning and insulation goes a long way in keeping toes toasty all season long.
