Discover the incredible story behind Eden Jewellery

Sometimes the right people meet at the right place, at the right time, and a perfect and important partnership is born. That’s exactly what happened when birdsnest founder, Jane Cay, discovered Eden Jewellery. Jane was instantly drawn to the brand, not only for the unique pieces they create but also for the powerful opportunities and hope each item gives to survivors of human trafficking.

Eden is an incredible organisation that exists to reach, rescue, and restore women caught in exploitation and human trafficking in six cities across Asia. They are on a mission to inspire hope and love for all victims and survivors. Through a range of innovative programs, Eden Jewellery provides economic empowerment, trauma counselling, and vocational training to help support these girls and young women.

Each piece of Eden jewellery is handmade by one of the rescued woman and carries their stories. Every purchase supports the rescue and restoration of women trapped in sexual exploitation, with 100% of Eden’s profits used to empower rescued women through stable employment, trauma informed care, PTSD counselling, educational classes, and vocational skills training.

Light Triumphs Over Darkness: World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Eden Jewellery light over darkness collection

30th July signifies World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, and in support of the global fight for the prevention and eradication of human trafficking, Eden’s Light Triumphs Over Darkness collection offers a powerful reminder that hope, action, and unity can overcome modern slavery.

Each piece features an engraved sound wave of a voice declaring that "light triumphs over darkness", and the globally recognised blue colour in a symbol of unity.

The pieces are designed to promote awareness and solidarity against human trafficking and are a call to action, encouraging wearers to use their voice to stop modern slavery.

Eden’s programs are based in South-East Asia, which is host to more than half of the global total of human trafficking victims. According to the International Labour Organisation, there are 49.6 million victims of modern-day slavery in our world today, of whom 22 million are in forced marriages and 4.9 million are women and girls in forced commercial sexual exploitation. Human Trafficking continues to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries in our world today and generates more than USD $150 Billion in profit every single year. That is more than the profit generated from Disney, Pepsi Co and McDonald’s combined.

Committed: The Inside Heart Collection

The Committed necklace is a movement for change. When purchased, you are buying not one, but two necklaces: one for you to wear, and one that is taken into the vulnerable communities and red light districts of Asia and given to a woman in need. The gift of a gold heart represents Eden’s and your own commitment to helping her, and reminds her that she is neither forgotten or alone.

The story behind the Committed necklace

Desert Flower Collection

The Desert Flower Collection tells the story of the many young Myanmar women who, following the economic, social, and judicial collapse of their country, were sold by their mothers as a final act of complete desperation. These pieces tell the story of the young women, whose innocence was sold for the sake of their family. Despite the tragedies that these young women have faced, like an emerging desert flower, they endured and overcame the harsh desert conditions and with incredible resilience blossomed. They are like the desert flowers that miraculously flourish in the harshest conditions, their leaves surviving even under the fierce desert sun.

Salt & Light Collection

Not all light can be overcome by darkness. The Salt and Light Collection highlights one of Eden’s core beliefs - that the tiniest pinprick of light permeates even the darkest places of the world. It only takes a small spark of hope to ignite courage in the trafficking hubs of Asia. The Eden Outreach team speaks the truth that a new, brighter future is possible and support is available if they dare to dream.

Songs of Freedom Collection

When Yati escaped those who trafficked her and arrived at Eden, she slowly learned how to dream about her future again. However, she kept thinking about those who were still captive. Only 2% of victims ever get rescued... and so many more remained trapped in the darkness Yati had escaped. So she wrote a song of freedom and bravely took it back into the same kind of red light districts she ran from not so long ago.

Speak Up Collection

The Speak Up Collection reminds us all to take courage and use our voices for those who cannot speak for themselves. Each piece is made with the hope of a rescued woman. It carries her voice, her story, and her courage into the world. By fighting injustice alongside Eden, you support their outreach into the red-light districts of Asia, their therapy programs for rescued women, their economic empowerment, and their legislative efforts to end human trafficking around the world.

Hope In A Hexagon Collection

Against all odds, the photo of Haymar finally reunited with her family matched the painting she’d hung on Eden’s Dream Wall months before. When Eden Outreach met her, Haymar had suffered eight years of traumatic sexual exploitation and abuse. As her body healed at Eden, Haymar became hopeful about her future. She began to dream of finding her lost family.

The Haymar Collection was inspired by Haymar’s enduring hope. Hope requires us to believe that a renewed future is possible when everything around us suggests otherwise. Hope pulls us through the darkness if we can just hold on tight enough. This collection features the word “hope” in Burmese, a word that Haymar now sees in the loving embrace of her family.

Hidden Treasures Collection

Courage and boldness are hidden treasures that are often buried within us, and sometimes it is only in the darkest moments that we can find them to rise up against injustice, pain, hurt, and shame. The Hidden Treasure collection brings to light the story of Mya Mya, who in the face of injustice and trials, stood up for truth. In her darkest moments, she dreamed of freedom, she held onto a hope that one day she would be liberated. Her story of escape sparks hope in so many women who have faced similar exploitation and distortions of reality.

Promises of Hope

While hopelessness thrives in the trafficking hubs where Eden does weekly Outreach, it is also in these places that hope has the most power. The Promises of Hope Collection was inspired by the power of hope to declare new beginnings, possibilities, opportunities, and dreams. Our greatest wish is that this collection will remind you of the power hope has to overcome darkness and to break the chains that hold us captive – both for rescued women like Enzali, and each of us on our own journey of healing.

Empowerment

The Empowerment Collection encourages the wearer to continue in their own personal battles. It is a reminder that we can overcome seemingly impossible obstacles by taking one small step at a time.
